Annabelle Hikes for Maggie's
My beloved family member suffered a lot from cancer.
Being a carer, I truly felt how hard cancer patients and their families fight against the enemy – cancer. My family member needed continuous emotional and psychological support to alleviate their pain during cancer treatments.
Because of the experience, I learned a lot about Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre.
I remember one instance I was very impressed watching a Centre user get fitted for a wig. I was touched to see how happy her relatives were with such sweet smiles on their faces. I am quite sure Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre has made a wonderful impact on the community.
Cancer is a number one killer in Hong Kong and 93 cancer cases are confirmed on average each day*. Cancer patients and their families need much more help than ever before and the Centre’s services have become more important than ever, particularly as we are all challenged by COVID-19.
Thus, I decided to start my plan – Annabelle Hikes for Maggie’s. My goal is to climb the top 10 highest mountains in Hong Kong for Maggie’s Centre.
The funds raised will provide practical, emotional and psychological support free-of-charge, to help cancer patients and their families to deal with their problems proactively and have a better lifestyle.
The top 10 highest mountains in Hong Kong are:
- Tai Mo Shan (957m)
- Nei Lak Shan (751m)
- Tate’s Cairn (577m)
- Victoria Peak (552m)
- Kau Keng Shan (507m)
- Mount Kellett (501m)
- Lion Rock (495m)
- High West(494m)
- Pak Tai To Yan (509m)
- Sze Tse Tau Shan (493m)
