Maggie's Cancer Caring Centre Rules and Regulations
Maggie Keswick Jencks Cancer Caring Centre Foundation Limited (referred to as ‘Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre,’ ‘Maggie’s Centre,’ or ‘the Centre’) provides services (hereinafter referred to as ‘the Services’) to people affected by cancer. All visitors and users must comply with the following Centre rules and regulations:
- Visitors must wear clean, neat, and tidy clothing to enter the Centre.
- Users should keep the Centre and other facilities clean and sanitary.
- No animals are allowed inside the Centre, except for guide dogs.
- Any images/pictures taken in relation (directly/indirectly) in the Centre shall remain the official property and in the ownership of Maggie’s Centre. Cannot reproduce, retransmit, disseminate, sell, distribute, broadcast, circulate or commercially exploit them in any manner without the prior consent of Maggie’s Centre.
- Without the Centre’s permission, no personal or political activities (e.g., sales, recruitment) may be conducted, nor may any illegal information be disseminated within the Centre.
- Users must not consume alcoholic beverages or smoke inside the Centre. Smoking is only permitted in designated areas outside the Centre.
- Users must maintain order and must not disrupt the Centre’s operations, staff duties, or other users' access to resources and facilities.
- The Centre prohibits all forms of harassment, illegal activities, or immoral behaviour, including loud conversations, disturbance, profanity, fighting, gambling, indecent conduct, and intimidation.
- Do not damage, mark, write on, or fold any of the Centre’s materials or facilities. Users will bear full responsibility for any damage caused (e.g., books, computers, photocopiers), and the Centre reserves the right to seek compensation.
- Users must safeguard their personal belongings. The Centre is not responsible for any loss or damage to personal property.
- Users must follow staff instructions when using Centre facilities. Borrowed materials must be returned after use, and any damage must be compensated for by the borrower/user.
- The Centre’s materials and facilities are for on-site use only. Unless pre-approved, users may not remove them from the premises.
- Without permission, users may not use portable copiers, scanners, cameras, recording devices, or similar equipment to duplicate, scan, or photograph the Centre’s materials and facilities.
- When photocopying, users must comply with Hong Kong’s copyright laws and bear all legal consequences for violations. The Centre is not liable for any infringements. Certain copyrighted or restricted materials may only be copied with staff approval.
- Computer users must register in advance. The Centre’s computers are configured for specific purposes; users may not upload illegal software, websites, or data, bypass system settings, or alter computer specifications.
- The Centre’s books, magazines, electronic databases, multimedia materials, and other reference resources are for informational purposes only. The Centre does not monitor their content or accuracy and assumes no responsibility.
- Users must not access pornographic or illegal websites (e.g., gambling sites) on Centre computers or personal devices within the premises.
- The Centre is not responsible for any bodily injury, property loss, or legal claims arising from activities or facility usage within the Centre.
- Centre’s staff may ask persons who do not obey the above regulations to leave the Centre immediately and may permanently revoke their access to services if they cause disturbance to staff or other users.
- If necessary, staff may notify security or law enforcement to remove disruptive individuals.
- For security reasons, staff may inspect users’ personal belongings.
- Maggie's Cancer Caring Centre reserves the final right of decision on all service applications.
These rules and regulations may be modified from time to time without prior notice.
