Helen Law’s Charity Art Exhibition “Everything is Mind-Created: Helen’s Beautiful World”

Ms. Helen Law, a resilient cancer survivor who has personally triumphed over the disease not once but twice, is dedicating her artistry to a noble cause. As a survivor and a compassionate caregiver for family members facing their own cancer battles, Helen has keenly understood the physical and emotional needs of both patients and their caregivers. In a remarkable effort to support those affected by cancer, she is pleased to announce a Charity Art Exhibition at Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre (Maggie’s Centre).

This year, Helen sets a fundraising target of HK$300,000, where she will showcase 90 pieces of her artwork, each reflecting a unique style, tone, and theme. Proceeds from the sale of these artworks will directly contribute to Maggie’s Centre, enabling the organisation to provide vital holistic services to cancer patients and their families.

Titled “Everything is Mind-Created: Helen’s Beautiful World” the exhibition presents Helen’s artistic interpretation of the beauty surrounding us, conveyed through delicate strokes that mirror her inner courage and strength gained from her journey with cancer. Helen's artwork embodies a heartfelt message of hope and resilience, aiming to inspire fellow cancer patients to confront their challenges with positivity and mindfulness.

All artworks at the exhibition will be offered at charity prices, inviting the community to either visit the exhibition in person or make purchases online. Helen is committed to donating 100% of the proceeds to Maggie’s Centre, which provides comprehensive cancer care.

Special recognition goes to Dr. Chan Wai Ming, who has generously sponsored expenses related to the exhibition, ensuring that every dollar raised will go directly to support those impacted by cancer.

Join us for this inspiring event as we come together to make a meaningful difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families.

About Helen

Ten years ago, when Helen was still under 40, she faced a significant family crisis. Just five months later, she received the devastating news of thyroid cancer, and then, three months after that, a stage III colon cancer diagnosis. These challenges brought Helen to the lowest point in her life. Fortunately, she received guidance from Venerable Hin Yeung and the unwavering support of her loved ones, Helen courageously embarked on the grueling journey of battling cancer, determined to embrace a life of fulfillment. Following her recovery, drawing from her personal experience and the medical expertise gained through her work, Helen now dedicates herself to supporting cancer patients, walking hand in hand with them, offering solace and companionship throughout their cancer journeys.

About Maggie's Cancer Caring Centre

Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre is an independent charitable organisation registered in Hong Kong. Being a charity without Government funding, we rely very much on generous donations from individual donors, enabling us to help people take back control when cancer turns life upside down. In recent years, fundraising activities have become increasingly challenging due to the impact of the pandemic and immigration trends. The primary purpose of this art exhibition is to raise funds for the Centre to sustain our services and operations.

Maggie’s Centre is adjacent to the Oncology Department of Tuen Mun Hospital, established in 2013. We are dedicated to providing professional and holistic services to cancer patients and their carers, including 1) information & practical support, 2) emotional & psychosocial support, 3) relaxation & stress management, and 4) a warm & welcoming space. Our multidisciplinary team includes oncology nurses, social workers, dietitians and clinical psychologists. All Maggie’s services are free and no appointment or referral is needed.

According to the Hospital Authority's "Overview of Hong Kong Cancer Statistics of 2021", cancer figures in Hong Kong have been hitting record highs, with over 38,000 new cases reported annually. Cancer remains the leading cause of death in Hong Kong, with the number of female cancer cases surpassing male cases for two consecutive years. There is a pressing need in society for cancer care. Over the past decade, Maggie’s Centre has delivered over 200,000 times of free cancer care services to empower cancer patients to live with, live through and live beyond cancer.
